Local law enforcement officials put their lives on the line each and every day in an effort to protect us.  Unfortunately, some of those individuals make the ultimate sacrifice, losing their lives in the line of duty.  An event coming up allows their colleagues and community to honor their lives and career.

Monday, May 16 is the date of the 27th annual Law Enforcement Memorial Luncheon, hosted by the St. Louis County Law Enforcement Chaplain's Association, starting at 12 Noon.  This event - held in conjunction with the Duluth Police Department and the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office will happen at the Great Lakes Ballroom of the Duluth Holiday Inn.

Keynote speaker this year is former Duluth Police Chief Scott Lyons.  Lyons will discuss his 26 years on the force, personal leadership, and his faith.

In 2015, 123 officers in the United States died while serving their communities, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.  So far in 2016, another 30 have fallen in the line of duty between January and March.
