Duluth Chipotle to Close in February for Food Safety Meeting

If you're one of the Duluth area's many burrito addicts, you may have to make different lunch plans in early February. The fast food burrito chain announced they will be closing all of their nearly 2,000 locations for a few hours on Monday, February 8 in order to discuss the series of illness outbreaks traced back to Chipotle locations, action plans in place, and allow employees to ask questions.

Chipotle CEO Steve Ells commented on the situation, saying "We're going to let all of our folks know about how this happened, and, in detail, all the steps that we're taking to ensure that it won't happen again. It's going to be a great rally."

The meetings will take place at 3:00 pm local time in each time zone, not having an impact on the lunchtime rush. The meeting will reportedly last up to 2 hours.

Ells said earlier this week that he was "hopeful" the Centers for Disease Control would soon declare that the outbreaks were over, stating "We know that Chipotle is as safe as it's ever been before," on Wednesday during an investors conference in Florida.
