Dulcimer Day in Duluth 2013 will be held May 4, 2013. The festival, now in its 12th year, is a great day for dulcimer and folk instrument players to gather to learn, listen and have a great time.There will be vendors and lunch will be available.

Over two dozen classes are scheduled for beginning mountain dulcimer, intermediate mountain dulcimer, beginner hammered dulcimer, advanced beginner hammered dulcimer, bowed psaltry, bodhran (Irish drum), mandolin, guitar (playing backup and lead), ukulele, singing, jam, and tips on performing. The instructor/performers this year include Peggy Carter, Karen Mueller, Greenwood Tree (Stu Janis and Bill Cagley), Al Anderson, and Lisa Ellsworth. Class topics include Celtic music, hymns, playing chords on the dulcimer and embellishing a tune, and ways to improve your playing and grow your skills.

NEW: The Knotty Carvers of the North Club will do a wood carving demo at 2:30 p.m.

Lunch will be available at 12:30. Dinner will be catered and will be a smashed potato with toppings bar and grasshopper pie.

Instrument and craft vendors will be set up from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The performers will also have their CDs and books for sale.
