Here's something you probably didn't know existed:  The 31st annual Minnesota State Bus Roadeo will happen in Duluth on Saturday, July 14 at the Duluth Heritage Sports Center.  (That's right - a bus "road-eo")  The Duluth Transit Authority will play host to public transportation drivers from all around the state - as they compete in a variety of competitions.  The event is also an opportunity for those who work in the public transportation industry to network with colleagues.

Opening ceremonies for the Bus Roadeo will happen at 8:00 AM, followed by a variety of driving competitions.  The Large Bus Division Competition starts at 8:45 AM, followed by the Small Bus Competition at 10:30 AM and a second starting at 1:00 PM.  There are 16 bus operators entered into the Large Bus Competition, and 26 in the Small Bus Competition - coming from different communities in Minnesota.  There are 12 different obstacles for drivers to compete against, and each operator is scored for both accuracy and timing.

The event is free to the general public to come and watch.

This marks the 3rd time that Duluth and the Duluth Transit Authority has hosted the event.  During the past 31 years, the Bus Roadeo has happened in the Twin Ports in 1989 and again in 2014.
