Road crews with Douglas County have been making progress on many of their projects and the summer is only a few weeks along.  These work zones might bring immediate headaches and delays but will result in many improvements that will bring long-term satisfaction.

One important element that county officials understand when working on some of these more-rural roadways:  total traffic count might be less than some of the highways that cut through town, but they form vital transportation links.  They fully understand that any detour can result in increased miles and time.

Here are some updates on some local Douglas County projects that will impact traffic in the next few days:

  • COUNTY HIGHWAY A:  Work has been progressing on this project and crews are getting ready to pave the main line south of Four Corners on June 8.  Project engineers hope to have the base course finished south of Four Corners by the end of next week.
  • COUNTY HIGHWAY BB:  Drivers can expect to see milled and wedged areas as the road approaches Four Corners.  Expect flaggers and one-lane traffic for the duration.
  • COUNTY HIGHWAY C:  Overlay work and base courses are expected to be started in the next few days in the area between County Highway K and E.
