Dick Beardsley is the current record holder for Grandma's Marathon and has been since 1981. He is also part of the coverage team on ESPN Radio 560 WEBC. He is part of the history and a part of the lore and excitement of the race.

What was it like when you ran your record? I asked him, he remembers vividly, the day was perfect, he held of Gary B, they were pushing each other and then at mile 22, what happened, Dick kicked it in to finally pull away in the race and take it.

What is it like to come back and cover it. Dick says he relives his experience every year and it puts a little deja vu into the way he calls the race knowing what to expect.

What will he do if the record is broken? He wants to be there, and maybe not.....
