Construction On Canal Park Electric Car Charging Station Begins

The City of Duluth is making it easier for hybrid vehicles to power-up in Canal Park!  Construction begins on a new 9-car electric car charging station in Canal Park on Tuesday, December 13;  the charging station will be located in the parking lot area by teh former Endion Station Building.

Crews will install five foundation bases on the soil work that previously done - in preparation of the project.  The center island parking spots will be closed for the next few days to accomplish that.  Next week, crews will be back to work on the spots to the north, facing the rocks.

This fall, Minnesota Power, Enbridge, and Hunt Electric partnered to donate and install the $377,000 solar panel charging station.  Work is expected to be complete and the unit operable by May 2017.
