Cole Koepke won't have to travel far for school. The Hermantown hockey player has committed to play his college hockey in his backyard at the University of Minnesota - Duluth.

Koepke was part of the Hermantown Boys Hockey Team that won the Minnesota State High School Hockey Class A Tournament this past March. It was the first state title for Hermantown in 7 years after losing in the championship game the six years before that.

Koepke netted 41 goals this past winter for the Hawks, and added 27 assists to total 68 points according to mnhockeyhub.com

Koepke will join a UMD Bulldogs team that was one win away from advancing to the frozen four last season before losing to Boston College in the NCAA Northeast Regional.
