An arrest has been made in a weekend stabbing incident in Cloquet.

The department is still investigating circumstances surrounding a stabbing that occurred on Sunday December 22, at approximately 2 AM. While on patrol in the area of 11th Street and Cloquet Avenue, a Cloquet Officer came upon a fight on the east side of The Jack bar in the City of Cloquet. The Officer observed a male suspect holding a knife as the Officer exited his squad car, the individual holding the knife started to walk away. The Officer ordered the suspect to stop and at one point attempted to apprehend the suspect. The suspect broke free and fled the scene on foot. The Officer then learned that a male had been stabbed.

The victim, a 28 year old Cloquet man was transported to a local hospital by the Cloquet Area Fire District via ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect, a 37 year old Sawyer MN, man was located and taken into custody by law enforcement without incident, a short time later.

The suspect is currently being held at the Carlton County law-Enforcement Center awaiting formal charges. The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available.

Cloquet police were assisted by the Carlton County Sheriff's Department and Fond du Lac Police Department.
