If there's a pile of unwanted stuff in your garage or yard - now is the time to do it!  The City of Superior is offering their Free Landfill Days for residents on two upcoming Saturdays:  October 20 and October 27.  The annual event is a way to encourage yard and home cleanups in advance of the changing season, while offering legal (and easy) means of doing so.

The event occurs just like it's name - the use of the landfill for that day for items usually-accepted is free.  The city offers a complete list of items they do and don't take on their website; click here to see it. In general, most household garbage - sans recyclables - will be accepted for free at the landfill.  In addition, residents can bring collected brush from their yards as well as grass clippings.  For the two days of the event, residents will be able to bring tires for free - limited to four without charge.

Items that won't be accepted include all usually recycled things - think glass, plastic, paper, tin, and aluminum.  Other items like electronics, motor oil, appliances, batteries, hazardous waste, and the like will not be accepted, either.

The hours of operation for the two Free Landfill Days (October 20 & 27) are 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM.  The City of Superior's Municipal Landfill is located on Moccasin Mike Road - just a mile and a half east of Highway 53.
