Perhaps no one really likes to shovel snow.  However -  for some people - that task is made extra-hard due to physical challenges.  Throughout the winter season, many people often come to the aid of their neighbors and family members by helping them clear their property of snow.  Now, the City of Duluth wants to recognize them.

Duluthians are encouraged to nominate those individuals, groups, and businesses that go the extra mile to ensure that sidewalks, walkways and parking lots are cleared of snow and passable for everyone all winter long. “We want to hear about those folks who demonstrate a deep sense of community spirit,” Mayor Ness explains. “Our snow and ice covered sidewalks can be difficult for even the most able-bodied among us.” Nominations will be reviewed by the Healthy Duluth Area Coalition and the City of Duluth Commission on Disabilities. Those selected among the nominations will have their efforts
recognized at a Mayor’s Reception in the spring and will be given a “Golden Shovel” award.
