New Movie Releases: ‘Thor,’ ‘Something Borrowed’ and More [VIDEOS]

Three new movies are opening at our local Marcus Theatres this weekend.

One has the makings of a mega-blockbuster in 'Thor,' the latest in a long line of superhero movies from Marvel. Interestingly enough, this one is from critically acclaimed and Oscar-nominated director Kenneth Branagh, the man behind such Shakespeare adaptations as 'Henry V.'

The other big releases this weekend are a nice alternative to the loud thunderous action in 'Thor.' The first is 'Something Borrowed,' based on the popular book by Emily Giffin, starring Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin. If that doesn't float you boat, you may want to try 'Jumping the Broom,' about two very different families who come together for a wedding at Martha's Vineyard.

Which of these movies will you see this weekend? Take a look at their trailers after the jump, then check out a list of movies still playing in Marcus Theatres.

'Fast Five' kicked into high gear at the weekend box office.

The action-packed sequel, the fifth in the 'Fast and the Furious' franchise, took in a whopping $83.6 million, setting a record for the best April opening ever. (April's previous owner was fittingly 2009's 'Fast and Furious, with $71 million.)

'Fast Five's' impressive debut was more than enough to dethrone last weekend's box office champ, 'Rio,' which this week earned a steady $14.4 million, putting it past the $100 million mark.

Ozzy Osbourne And The Bad Old Days On Film

Ozzy has his demons, but he's a hard guy not to like. At first glance we might think he's over the line, but considering all he's been through makes one understand why he is the way he is. I'm hoping they release the film nationally. I'd love to own a copy.

Starting this Wednesday at 1PM, the city of Altoona, PA, will change its name to 'POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold,' and keep it for 60 days.

According to the AP, Altoona -- which has 31,000 residents, and is located 85 miles east of Pittsburgh -- will receive $25,000 for the tongue-in-cheek product placement. It will also play host to the East Coast premiere of the film on Wednesday.
