Christmas City of the North Parade gets under way on Friday. It will be Broadcast Live on KBJR 6 and Range 11 or online at: NorthlandsNewsCenter.com. So when I tell people KOOL 101.7 will be a part of it, I get a thousand questions. So here's the answers:
Students will find it easier to walk to Lincoln Park Middle School, thanks to a new trail connection that they and community volunteers will be building on Saturday, November 17th from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. The gravel footpath will connect the neighborhood just east of the school to the existing paved walkway that the ISD 709 school district constructed.
We've all heard that seat belts save lives. There is proof that if you wear your seat belt in your car your odds of making it through a car crash are greater than if you don't. What about seat belts on planes or trains?
Halloween comes early - this Saturday - at the Hartley Nature Center. Bring the kids and explore the haunted trails of Hartley Park and the Hartley Nature Center. Their annual Howl-O-Ween will include two sessions this year.
Mayor Don Ness will hold his ‘Mayor’s Night’ event with Duluth citizens at City Hall on October 30, 2012. The meeting starts at 5:00 p.m. and continues until each person has a chance to speak with the Mayor. The meeting will be held in the Fourth Floor Reception Room, which is Room 405 of Duluth City Hall (411 West First Street).
The Undefeated Twin Ports Ice Monkeys are playing for the Championship against St. Cloud this Saturday at 1 p.m. at UMD Field number 4. After a hiatus from play beginning in 2005, the Twin Ports Ice Monkeys Men's Rugby Team was reinstated in the spring of 2012
Looks like restaurants are going back to basics. Kids eat chicken tenders and nuggets, so more and more places started having that on their menu. Then, people wanted salads and chicken, so more places added that to the menu.
It takes a lot to scare me. I once dated a girl that loved scary movies too, and all we did was try to find movies that would scare each other. I soon learned they all have something in common, and you're not scared anymore. The Duluth Public Library is trying to do the same thing with their scary movie series.
Congratulations to Pam Kleinschmidt, the 2012 Minnesota Crime Prevention Association’s (MCPA) Volunteer of the Year! The award was based on the following nomination letter submitted to the MCPA by Duluth Police Lieutenant Leigh Wright
