Can I eat snow?  It's a question that just about anyone who's ever lived in an area that receives snow in the winter has pondered at least once or twice.  If you didn't wonder about it as a kid - then your kids will probably make you question the safety of eating Mother Nature's white stuff after you become a parent.  (And, haven't we all heard the adage about snow of the yellow variety?)

So is it safe to eat?  It turns out, the question doesn't have an easy answer.  In theory - yes, snow is safe to eat.  However, the snow that we see built up on the ground and on objects around us isn't necessarily as clean as it was when it was formed in the atmosphere.

Livinggreenmag.com offers good advice and facts to think about.  In many ways, it comes down to common sense.  The article suggests that snow might be safer when found in the country - away from contaminants.  It also makes the case that freshly-fallen snow would be somewhat safer than older snow due to bacteria growth.
