Bruce Springsteen the Choice to Write New U.S. National Anthem in Recent Poll
Hey there, Mr. ‘Born in the U.S.A,’ how would you feel about writing a new National Anthem? It’s not really happening, but recently TV’s ’60 Minutes’ and the magazine Vanity Fair collaborated to conduct a poll asking Americans what musician should be the choice if there was ever a call to pen a new song for our country.
Bruce Springsteen easily topped the chart, securing 22 percent of the vote. Right behind him was country icon Dolly Parton, who earned 19 percent of the vote. Both are definitely American treasures, with Springsteen’s blue collar songs earning him a ‘Time’ magazine cover in the ’70s and millions of fans that have made him a top draw at concerts for four decades.
Meanwhile Parton has been one of the biggest stars in country music for years, playing the Grand Ole Opry, appearing on television and in film, and even going so far as to open her own Dollywood theme park.
