The Bruce Springsteen fans who came out this week for his shows at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. definitely got their money's worth.

CBS reports Springsteen played for a whopping three hours and 52 minutes at the first show on Aug. 23, breaking his personal record for longest Stateside performance — and coming close to his all-time record of four hours and six minutes, set during a 2012 concert in Finland. And then the band came back and broke that record on Aug. 25, performing for four hours even.

Billboard notes that the Aug. 25 performance, while weighing in with slightly fewer songs (only 33 compared with the previous show's 35), boasted a number of extra-special moments — including appearances from guitarist Tom Morello, guest vocals from a three-year-old fan, a marriage proposal, and the presence of Springsteen's mother Adele in the audience.

Recently back from a European leg, Springsteen and the band have embarked on a short run of U.S. dates that's currently set to conclude Sept. 14 in Massachusetts. On Sept. 23, he's scheduled to release Chapter and Verse, a new compilation timed to coincide with the publication of his memoir, Born to Run.
