There's nothing wrong with Max Weinberg, but his predecessor with Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band was back in the drum seat last night (Sept. 19) at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Vini "Mad Dog" Lopez surprised fans by sitting in to play 'E Street Shuffle' and later the tambourine on '10th Avenue Freeze-Out' and 'Twist and Shout.'

The video below shows Lopez effortlessly keeping up with his former bandmates on a song he recorded with them back in 1973 for the 'The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle' album. According to a report at Springsteen's website, some theater proceeded Lopez's introduction. Weinberg left during the horn intro and Springsteen played the fool, asking for an M.D. Towards the end of the song he engaged in a drum battle with Everett Bradley.

Springsteen has two more stadium shows in East Rutherford, N.J. before taking a month off and continuing with arena dates across North America. The last date listed for the Wrecking Ball tour is Dec. 6 in Glendale, Ariz.
