A bridge repair will close down a stretch of a Northland roadway for almost the rest of the year. St. Louis County crews will begin their work on the bridge that crosses Bear River on Highway 5.  A new bridge will be constructed on the site - to replace the existing one that dates back to 1934.

To accommodate the work, Highway 5 will be closed between Airport Road and Highway 22.  The $2-million replacement structure will be significantly longer than the current bridge due to increasing safety concerns and soil erosion.
