Bob Seger’s House Burglarized, Family Friend Arrested

The Gibson Les Paul that Bob Seger holds on the cover of his 1994 ‘Greatest Hits’ album was stolen from the rocker’s house in August, along with personal items like a Rolex and autographed Shaquille O’Neal sneakers. A family friend who had attended a party at the house has now been arrested.
Police say 20-year-old Andrew D. Thompson of Waterford Township, Mich. snuck back into the house after the party, thrown by Seger’s 16-year-old daughter. “They trusted this kid,” Orchard Lake, Mich. Detective Darrell Betts told Detroit’s CBS station. On Tuesday, Thompson was charged with larceny from a building and released on bond.
The young man admitted to stealing the Rolex, sneakers and cash from the Seger’s but denies taking the 1978 guitar. The Les Paul actually reappeared on the family’s dock shortly after police talked to party-goers.
“It mysteriously showed up right after I talked to him, but he denied he took it,” Betts said. “That was my main goal, getting that guitar back … It’s priceless.”
The 67-year-old rocker was in the process of moving. The axe is actually valued between $8,000 and $10,000 but it is “priceless” to Seger.
