Bob Matson Asks Whats In Your Boat House, Stories and Discussion For Lunch With The History People May 19
Bob Matson was our guest this morning. He has spent many years working in television and radio as an executive and on-air personality and a station manager. He hosted The Bear Facts radio show, when he was the executive director of the North American Bear Center. His love and passion is boats. Currently, he writes about vintage boats for The Timberjay and Minnesota Moments. He is also the owner of Matson Motors Marine & Small Engine Repair, which specializes in vintage boat restorations.
Bob’s lecture on “Amazing Stories of Nautical Archeology!” is based on his book. “Every boat has a story to tell,” according to Bob. He has gathered many interesting stories, family histories and tales of remarkable vintage boat restorations. His talk includes beautiful photos of these fine watercrafts. The funny story he told us about the book this morning was that he was looking for a close to his book and thought he could get one from a man in North Dakota. He had been searching for a rare boat and found one in a barn.
He will elaborate more on that and will also show some pictures and bring his book along, "What's In Your Boat House?".
The event will be held in the Underground on the first floor of the St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center (the Depot). There will be limited theater-style seating (no tables), but feel free to bring your own bag lunch. Seating is first-come, first-served (no reservations). Admittance to this event is free to the public. ARCO coffee is provided.
