It's that time of year again!  It seems like the summer road construction season is kicking off - just as the last of the snow has disappeared.  One project that you may want to be aware of is happening next week at the busy I-35/Blatnik Bridge connections.

Work crews with the Minnesota Department of Transportation will be conducting their annual "Snooper" bridge inspections - Monday through Wednesday, April 30 through May 2. The work is part of the annual surveys that occur on the bridges - as well as their on and off-ramps - each season.

Specifically, here are the traffic impacts:

  • April 30:  The ramp from northbound I-35 to southbound I-535 and the ramp from southbound Highway 53 to southbound I-535 will be closed.
  • May 1:  The ramps from I-535 to southbound I-35 and northbound Highway 53 will be closed.
  • May 2:  The ramp from southbound Highway 53 to southbound I-35 will be closed.  In addition, right-lane closures will happen on southbound Highway 53 to I-535 and southbound Highway 53 to northbound I-535.

MNDOT says that the closures will only occur during the daytime hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.  All ramps and bridge access should be open during the morning and afternoon commutes.
