Drivers who cross the border as part of their daily commute will want to know about some lane closures starting Monday, June 25.  According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the right lanes on the Blatnik Bridge - in both directions - will be closed for routine maintenance and inspections.

The lane closures will occur during the daytime hours - between 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM - after the morning commute and before drivers head home in the afternoon.

In addition to the lane closures on the edges of the bridge, there will be width restrictions in place on the Blatnik Bridge while the maintenance is being performed. A width restriction of 13-feet will be enforced.  Motorists are also asked to use caution when driving through the work zone.

At this point, a timeline for completion hasn't been issued.  Using prior summers as a guideline (and at the risk of employing speculation), the work should be completed within a week or two.
