It's becoming an annual summer ritual.  For the last few summers, crews with the Minnesota Department of Transportation have conducted an annual inspection of the John A. Blatnik Bridge (Interstate 535).  That's the work that's scheduled to begin on Monday, July 11.

For the remainder of the month, traffic will be restricted on the Blatnik Bridge to 10-foot wide lanes and the speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH during the daytime hours of 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The inspection being done is to assure that the bridge is up to safety standards.

This summer's inspection work is expected to be wrapped up by July 28.
