Alannah Myles a Canadian singer/songwriter, who released her self titled album in 1989. In 1990, “Black Velvet” a single from that album, became a worldwide hit and won a Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Female. “Black Velvet” became the most played song on radio for 1989 & 1990. By 2000 it had received the ASCAP Millionaire Award for having received over five million airplays on radio stations.
