I’m a proud life-long resident of the Northland: Born and raised on the Iron Range, I’ve lived in the Twin Ports all of my adult years. I enjoy the fact that we get to enjoy all four seasons and I love the natural beauty that our area provides. I’m worked for the company that owns KOOL 101.7 since 1993 and I enjoy the fact that no two days are ever the same. Although you hear me on the radio during the mid-day shift, my mail role is Production Manager for our stations – writing and producing the commercials you hear. I’m married with one son. In my spare time (what is that?) I enjoy cooking, collecting records (primarily classic country), studying history and politics and being involved in the community on a variety of boards and committees.

Are Banana’s Going To Be Extinct In 10 Years? The Truth Behind A New Rumor

When I first heard someone suggest that banana's are going to disappear from supermarket shelves in the next ten years, I dismissed it as coming from "someone who didn't know what they were talking about".  Then I encountered another person who shared the same story - that a strain of fungus was attacking banana trees, and they would be extinct within the next decade.  Hmm, I thought.  Then a third person passed the story off to me - and that's when I realized that I needed to do some investigation of my own.

Gateway Tower Sees New Owners And Renovations

One of the more-visible buildings along Superior Street and Duluth's skyline is getting new owners and some renovations!  One Roof Community Housing and Center City Housing formed a partnership to rescue Gateway Tower from foreclosure - saving 150 units of affordable rental housing along the way.

$20,000 Cash Recovered During Drug Arrest On Iron Range

Approximately $20,000 cash, drugs, and stolen firearms were recovered during an arrest on the Iron Range,  November 30.  Officers from the Boundary Waters Drug Task Force executed an arrest on Cody Elven for outstanding felony warrants.

BN Track Repairs Closes Part Of County Highway C In Superior

Drivers who take County Highway C south of Superior will need to find an alternate route this week as track repairs by Burlington Northern Railroad will close a portion of the roadway.  The section that's being repairs is in the Town of Superior - on C between Short Cut Road and State Highway 35.

Railroad Work Postponed For Intersection Of Highways 7 And 101 [Update]

The work that was originally to have started this week at the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 101 west of Eveleth has been postponed.  Unforeseen scheduling conflicts have moved the three day project's start date to next week - December 5-7.

The CN Railroad will be doing repair work on a railroad crossing that travels through the intersection of Highway 7 and 101.  In order to allow the crews the opportunity to complete the job, traffic will be impacted for a few days - according to St. Louis County officials.
