Steve Tanko

Here's more than you ever cared to know about me. I'm a "lifer".  ...Born and raised on Minnesota's Iron Range...moving to the Twin Ports area 20 years ago. I've worked for these radio stations for18 years and love every minute of it.  Although you hear me on the radio during the mid-day, my main role is Production Manager for our stations - writing and producing commercials. In my spare time (what's that?)  I'm married with one child.  I'm active in my son's school and volunteer in the community and serve on a variety of boards and committees.  I love to cook and have collected records for my entire life.  Although I spin "the Northland's Favorite Hits" on the radio, my collection is mostly comprised of classic country.   I'm also interested in business and economics. Thanks for listening!!

Why Aren’t Pistachio’s Red Anymore? Changes In Market and Harvest Procedures Eliminated The Red Pistachio

I mentioned this to someone just the other day and they thought I was off my rocker.  Once upon a time pistachio's used to be red.  The shells were an unnatural color that was inherent of the red food color that was used to dye them that color.  Nowadays, you don't see red pistachios anymore - only their natural-colored shell.
