One of the worst roads in the Twin Ports - at least when it comes to potholes and surface area - will be seeing some much needed improvement.  Work begins on Arlington Avenue starting Monday morning, August 10 - a project that will resurface almost 3 miles of roadway - from Trinity Road to Arrowhead Road.

That work will come with a price.

In order to minimize the inconvenience to people who use Arlington, segments of the road will be completely closed to allow the work to progress more quickly.  Starting August 17, the section of Arlington between Trinity Road and Central Entrance will be completely closed to traffic.  This closure will last 15 days.  Then beginning September 7, the section of Arlington from Central Entrance to Arrowhead will close for 15 days.

Total cost of the project is estimated at $2.6 million, with $500,000 of the funding coming from Transportation Sales Tax revenue. The project originally was scheduled for next year, however, by using sales tax revenue as a match for federal funding, the County was able to accelerate the project and complete it this year. The work should be done in mid to late October.
