Every Wednesday at 8:10 Ken and I talk with Daryl Yankee from Animal Allies about the Pet of the Week.  This week we were unable to talk with Daryl and I thought I'd take the opportunity to give you info on their "Sidekicks for Seniors" program.

If you're at the age where you're taking care of your senior aged parents or perhaps you visit your grandparents or a neighbor and see how lonely they are, this program at Animal Allies might be the perfect answer.  These animals don't fall into the category of a therapy dog, but there has been studies done that show that owning a pet lowers the risk of heart disease, lowers blood pressure and reduces stress (apparently, they've never met my Schnauzer, he's like a fart in a windstorm most of the time).  Plus, it's nice to have a companion in the home that you can talk to, watch TV with and snuggle with on a cold day.

The best part is Animal Allies makes it affordable by offering no-fee adult cat adoptions and $50 off all dog and kitten adoptions to any adopter 60 years of age and older.

Share this info with seniors you know, a pet will offer a positive life change!
