UPDATE – Andy Rooney’s College Roommate Suffers Heart Attack at Memorial Service

UPDATE — Despite a previous report by TMZ on the death of Andy Rooney’s college roommate Bob Ruthman at the memorial service of the ’60 Minutes’ icon, Ruthman was later revived.
Rooney’s son Brian stood up on a chair and pronounced Ruthman dead after the man suffered a heart attack. However, FDNY was able to resuscitate Ruthman once at New York hospital and he is currently in intensive care.
Original report — As if the recent death of ’60 Minutes’ stalwart Andy Rooney wasn’t sad enough, attendees at his memorial on Wednesday now have another reason to grieve.
Rooney’s college roommate, Bob Ruthman, who went to Colgate University in the 1940s with the newsman, suffered a heart attack and died during a memorial luncheon at the Century Club in New York City.
Paramedics tried to revive the wheelchair-bound Ruthman, who was said to have suffered the attack in the bathroom, but were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
