Today's vote could well determine a change in the works nationwide. Some say, even if the vote is a  "no" today, it's only a matter of time before it succeeds.

 

Mississippi voters will go to the polls today on a controversial “personhood amendment,” which would legally define a person under the state’s Bill of Rights as existing at the moment of conception.

If passed, Initiative 26 — which got more than 100,000 signatures to appear on the ballot — could be interpreted as outlawing abortion in a state that already has among the most restrictive abortion laws in the country. Only one clinic in the state performs them.
