I had a chance to chat with Aaron of the group Cantus, who came to Mitchell Auditorium Sept. 26th. It's hard to classify their type of vocal music, but it's easy to listen to, and they are touring on a show called "Anthems".

Aaron goes on to say that you may hear anything at their concerts, from classical to Dave Matthews Band. They commission new music every year and I get him to let the cat out of the bag about their upcoming Thanksgiving album called, "A Harvest Home", which includes original arrangements of favorite hymns, American folk tunes as well as new compositions by Ysaye Barnwell, Byron Adams and pieces by Edvard Grieg, Felix Mendelssohn and Randall Thompson. Aaron says that no one puts out music for that holiday and they felt the need to do so. It is also a follow up to the Thanksgiving series they have been performing for years.

I get him to talk about the show last September and we will soon feature their Christmas music on our station too. For more info on the group and their recordings click here.
