Believe it or not, we came up with this blog while driving through the state of Wisconsin. We were talking about when you think of cheese curds you think of the MN State Fair and the state of Wisconsin.  I wondered out loud what foods would be represented for Minnesota and the list was born, do you agree?

As a young girl I still remember going with my father to find rocks in Carlton to look for blueberries.  (apparently that’s where they grow more abundantly) More went in my mouth than the bucket, but hey, I was young.  In fact, the Minnesota State Muffin is the Blueberry Muffin! [more]

Self explanatory!  We fish for hours to catch Walleye, then end up at the grocery store buying a couple pounds at $17.99 per pound!

Wild Rice

While I am a fan of wild rice hot dish, my favorite is creamy chicken wild rice soup.  Some to-die-for soup can be found at Farley’s Family Restaurant in Hermantown and of course Grandma’s Restaurants too.

It’s a staple for some in the Northland during the holidays.  I had it as a child and really liked the cream sauce on potatoes, I guess as an adult I should try it again and actually eat the fish.  Several churches in the area will hold Lutefisk feasts, I’ll hit one of them up next year and do a review!  Why am I apprehensive?  The definition of lutefisk is:  A Scandinavian dish prepared by soaking dried cod in lye to tenderize it, then skinning, boning, and boiling it to a gelatinous consistency.
