‘Idol’ Boosting Aerosmith Sales
Some questioned if it was a good move for Steven Tyler to join the cast of American Idol. After watching a few episodes now and hearing how often they use Aerosmith songs, this doesn’t surprise me, and I’m sure Mr. Tyler had this in mind when he agreed to do the show.
Looks like Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler is having the last laugh on his bandmates.
Joe Perry et al raked him over the coals for joining “American Idol” as a judge for its 10th season, but due to the 60-something rocker’s smooth charm and the incessant playing of “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” on the show, sales of old Aerosmith songs are zooming up the charts.
Aerosmith’s 1998 power ballad, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” is currently #22 on Apple’s iTunes chart, and not one but two versions of Aerosmith’s 1973 hit “Dream On” are charting, at #77 and #115, respectively.
